Prayer Update July 2026

Prayer Letter for David and Tule Cox Mexico
July 2026

We praise the Lord that on July 12 we were able to baptize 5 our people. They were all young people. Luz Maria wanted to be baptized, but that was just not possible. She has cancer and is not physically strong enough to be baptized. Marcela, her adult daughter that lives with her, also wanted to be baptized, but she cannot leave her mother at the present. We will try to baptize Marcela later on when possible. We have had another two people talk about wanting to get baptized. So we will probably be looking at more baptisms at the end of the year.

We are renting a basement in a strip mall, so we do not have our own building. So since we cannot install a baptistery in our church, we have to use some other church that has one. We had our baptismal services in Pastor Perez’s church, and he asked me to preach, and he did the actual baptisms. So we had a good time, between both of our churches and invited guests, we had a total of about 60 or 70 people.

Health Concerns – We continue to request prayer for Luz. She is probably getting towards the end of her life. The cancers are exterior of her body and bleeding. Marcela sometimes has to work 3 hours to clean up the mess and wash her up. Please pray for their salvation, that Luz especially understands salvation and has faith in the Savior in this difficult time of her life. I have explained the plan of salvation to them some 4 times now, and they always say that they have accepted the Lord, but she seems confused a bit. I do not know if it is that she is not understanding or if it is the pain of her cancer, the despair that she is in, she is “befuddled” in her mind. Please pray for them. Her unsaved son, Victor Hugo, lives in the same building and also has cancer. I would ask that you pray for my wife, Tule, she has tendinitis in her right wrist. The doctor injected medicine into the tendon, and it is about 95% back to normal, but often hurts when she uses her hand. We are continuing to see doctors about her inner ear dizziness.

Our Evangelism EffortsPlease pray for our efforts to get the gospel out. We still have several that faithfully take our evangelism tracts and pass them out in the street, and around the waiting rooms of hospitals. They seem to be well received by these people (family of the sick are often there for hours). I had baptismal classes for 4 weeks at 10AM for those getting baptized this past month, and they were all young people, college and career age. They asked me to start a youth College and Career Sunday School class for them which we started again in July. I will be teaching that class, and our men will be teaching the adult Sunday School class. Please pray for us that I can motivate these young people to participate in the Lord’s work. It would seem that God is working in our young people, and they are showing a lot of spiritual interest. They specifically wanted me to speak on life questions that they have.

God has laid on my heart to preach on preachers that do not preach for moral change, they do not direct their preaching and teaching towards moral change in every opportunity. Please pray that God would guide me, most of all, that I would understand what makes a good preacher and be able to support it with exposition. I continue to preach on the false prophet on occasion, and teaching on the marks of a false prophet dovetails with that long standing theme of moral change.

Our Once a Month Saturday Prayer Breakfast. It would seem that the difficult teaching session that Tule had with the women in the June prayer breakfast had a confirming aspect to it, as various of the women spoke to Tule afterward saying they did not see any reason for that lady to speak out against what Tule was saying. If the topic that Christian women should dress modestly, and unsaved women dress according to the desires of their evil heart is off limits, then that just shows who is who. It was encouraging that many of the women present that day called Tule and expressed their support for her. They said that she, Tule, did not say anything wrong at all. Please pray for our women and Tule as she works with them. One of the other women and her daughter that was involved in the objection to Tule’s teaching that day has told Tule that they are attending another church. They have only been to our services maybe 3 times this year, so that is no surprise. Her name is Maria de la Luz. Her daughter is Xel (pronounced “shell”), and they complaint is that they want entertainment for Xel. That was their main complaint. I see the church as wanting to teach and preach the Word of God, and these young people don’t want preaching in the youth activities or even in their Sunday School (which they don’t come for anyway). They want to talk, and tell jokes, entertainment, etc. We are not a church for that.

Our Internet Ministry – On our coxtracts.com website, we are averaging 7,500 downloads of my sermon tracts per day, with a 30 day average of 225,000. Please pray that God would protect and provide funding for us to keep these sites up and working. Also pray that I will have the patience to work them and fix the problems that come up constantly.
